The Baptist Church

                    

Statement of Faith

The Holy Bible is the word of God and is the basis for our statement of faith. The Missionary Baptist Church subscribes to the doctrinal statement of "The Church Covenant" and the "Articles of Faith" as adopted by the National Baptist Convention, U.S.A., Incorporated (ref. New National Baptist Hymnal; Broadman Church Manual). We band ourselves together as a body of Baptized believers in Jesus Christ personally committed to sharing the good news of salvation to lost mankind. The ordinances of the church are baptism and the lord's supper. and the Lord's Supper.

            

Governance

The government of the church is vested in the body of believers who compose it. Each individual member has equal authority under the leadership of the Holy Spirit. The church is subject to the control of no other ecclesiastical body, but it recognizes and sustains the obligations of mutual counsel and cooperation which are common among Baptist churches. Insofar as is practical, this church will cooperate with and support the associations) and state convention affiliated with the National Baptist Convention, U.S.A., Incorporated.

                                 

Provisions

This church seeks to provide for each member a place for worship, ministry, and development in Christ. Our stated purpose for worship is for all members to know the reality of God's existence, to fell the reality of God, and to claim the reality of God in their lives. The church seeks to respond effectively and adequately to the needs of its members and to educate them in the knowledge and acceptance of Jesus Christ. The church seeks to prepare each member to be effective in ministry, educators of others, examples for Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit.

                                 

Membership

All persons considered for church membership must be redeemed, have confessed their sins, and have accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and the Lord of their life. They must have publicly announced their change in life and desire to become a part of the church family.

                                     

A church member should attend all church services including Sunday School, Nurture Baptist Church, Bible Study, and Prayer Services. A church member should tithe (10% of earnings) out of obedience to God. A church member should support the church and its program through offerings. Offerings are those amount cheerfully given above the beyond tithes. A church member should support the church with all of his/her God given talents and time. A church member should participate fully in the prayerful governance of the church. A church member should seek to grow spiritually in order to grow, glow, and go for Christ. A church member should be willing to cheerfully follow leadership. A church member should subscribe to the principle of "each one win one" in order to add to the kingdom of God.

                                     

ADMISSION INTO THE CHURCH BODY

Any person may offer him/herself as a candidate for membership into this church. All such candidates shall be presented to the church at ant regular church service for membership in one of the following ways:

                                    

   1. By profession of faith and for baptism according to the policies of the church.

   2. By promise of a letter of recommendation for another Baptist church.

   3. By restoration upon a statement of prior Christian experience and baptism in

        another Baptist church when no letter is obtainable.

                               

DISMISSION FROM THE CHURCH BODY

Membership shall be terminated in the following ways:

   1. By Death

   2. By letter of Dismission to another Baptist church

   3. By exclusion through action of this church

                                                  

Additionally, if a member is absent for ninety (90) days without a legitimate reason, he/she will be placed on inactive membership status. If a member is absent for six (6) months, he/she will be dropped completely from the church roll and must go through the admission process for reinstatement.
